Reflexology is a natural, non-invasive healing art based on the principle that all systems, organs and glands of the body correspond to specific –reflex- areas on the feet, hands, face and ears. Stimulation of those reflex areas by application of a mild pressure produces a series of changes in the body in order to maintain homeostasis (a stable internal environment within the body)
Reflexology is a holistic technique meaning that the therapist deals with the body as an entity seeking, when a symptom presents itself, the root of the dis-ease.
During the treatments a deep and complete relaxation is achieved -due to the normalization of the autonomous nervous system- stimulating the body’s own healing mechanism as well as the flow of the vital energy (Chi) via a complicated system of canals (meridians) in the body.
BENEFITS OF REFLEXOLOGY:
- A complete relaxation of the body is achieved
- Detoxification process in increased
- Blood and lymph circulation are stimulated facilitating the transportation of oxygen,
- nutrients and hormones to every single cell in the body
- Blood pressure is normalized
- Quality-quantity of sleep is improved and insomnia is relieved
- Mood is improved
Reflexology is a complementary not an alternative therapy. A properly trained reflexologist will therefore not diagnose, give medical advice or interfere in any way in the course of treatment of a client prescribed by a doctor.
A session usually lasts 40-45 minutes. The first appointment could take a little longer as some time is required in order for the reflexologist to take the details of the client’s medical history.
